Witten lies to the south-east of Bochum, not far away from the Bergisches Land and Sauerland. The municipal area comprises both urban and rural areas. The infrastructure is not concentrated within a town centre, but is rather found in the individual districts. The residential areas can be regarded as spanning basic to good. Witten is connected to the A43, A44 and A45 motorways. Buses and trains take you to the neighbouring cities of Dortmund and Bochum.
