Lagebeschreibung
The Brechten area of Dortmund lies approximately 10km north of the city centre. Brechten is part of Dortmund's Eving administrative district, covers 716 hectares and has around 8,900 inhabitants. The A2 motorway runs through Brechten from east to west, with the B54 main road running north to south. Brechten is one of the most sought-after districts in Dortmund. To the south-west of the locality is Brechtender Heide, currently one of the largest construction projects in the city. Brechten is characterised by its village-like nature. Extensive areas of woods and greenery, including conservation areas, stretch as far as the Brambauer and Gahmen districts of Lünen and Dortmund's Holthausen and Eving districts. Here you will find lots of old farmsteads, such as the Lohhof, one of the oldest and formerly one of the largest. In the year 1536, it was reported that the Lohhof was sold to Brechten's church representatives.
